How do I start using Squarespace?

STEP 1: Type the following URL into your browser address bar: www.squarespace.com

You are now in the Squarespace website and can see the following view, click the left black button Get Started

STEP 2: You are now on the templates page

Select the appropriate template for your site, I selected the FORTE one:

Click Start with to select the theme, or preview to see a live preview for the theme to make sure that it matches your needs.

STEP 3: As you select the template, you see the following form, fill in this and click sign up:

STEP 4: You can now see a group of optional questions that will help customizing your website, if you don’t want to answer, simply click SKIP

STEP 5: You have now established your free website, on the right you can see a live view for the site, the dashboard is the left menu, now it is your guide for the all of your needs!

PAGES MENU

Click on Pages to view the existing pages:

You can now see the existing pages and the options for new pages creation:

Note the quick editing black buttons on the live preview part for the current page as you move the mouse over that.

Back to the dashboard, you have the names of already existing pages (demo pages), to edit or remove them, click the “gear” icon to see the following popup:

Select Delete to remove it, or Create to start a new one:

If you click Create, then you are asked to fill the new page information as in the image below:

Click Save to create your new page.

Note that the page is Album type, which is referred to by the icon on the left of the page we selected at the beginning, so we have the area dedicated for images uploading, click on the blank area and select the images you wish

You can make sure that the image was successfully uploaded by looking at the thumbnail, and the left live preview:

To create new (non-demo) page, click on the menu Add Page, you then have a popup that asks you to select the page type:

For example, I selected the page type: you can now select the appropriate template and start filling your data as you wish!

DESIGN MENU

Here is the simplest but most important section that lets specify your website customization. We would here mention some basic and the frequently used menu items.

Logo and Title section, lets you naming your site and assigning a logo image to view on different specified parts of the site.

Template: lets you changing the current template:

Style Editor: an also necessary part that lets you customize headings, navigation, motions, typography and backgrounds colors and other options (usually depending on the selected theme)
